The Digital Pound Foundation is delighted to announce the expansion of its Board of Directors with the appointment of Claire Conby as an Executive Director. Claire joins the board with immediate effect alongside existing Directors Jannah Patchay (Markets Evolution) and Andrew Whitworth (Ripple), and Non-Executive Director and payments industry expert, Phil Kenworthy.
With her focus on payments innovation and new forms of digital money, including CBDCs, Claire is particularly interested in the opportunities that these developments can bring, and what these changes mean for the retail user as well as emerging commercial opportunities for businesses in this space.
On behalf of the Board, Phil Kenworthy, Digital Pound Foundation commented: “Claire has made an invaluable contribution to the Foundation over the past 2 years steering our operations, governance and innovation efforts. We are very pleased that she has now agreed to bring her expertise to the Digital Pound Foundation’s Board during a period of rapid growth for the organisation. She has also been instrumental in helping champion and contribute to our use case work. I have no doubt that her leadership will be essential as we continue our advocacy for the implementation of a well-designed digital Pound in both public and private forms”.
The Digital Pound Foundation’s current members include Accenture, Avalanche, ClearBank, Clifford Chance, CMS, Electroneum, Fireblocks, Greengage, KodeLab, Millicent Labs, OneStep Financial, Quant and Ripple. Since early 2024, the Foundation has attracted 4 new members and announced strategic partnerships with organisations including Universal Digital Payments Network, Global Digital Finance, Positive Money, Digital Dollar Project and Global Blockchain Business Council. This year the Foundation will also launch its inaugural annual conference, which intends to become the destination annual UK event for discussing the implementation of a digital Pound and the broader impact of new forms of digital money on our economy and society.
